On the 27 August 2025 at Ga-Segonyana Council Chamber, Speaker Keamogetse Madikiza chairs the Special Council meeting. The session still in process is attended by Councillors, Municipal Manager Mr Martin Tsatsimpe, Management and Officials sitting in the Council. STAKEHOLDER DAY 2025 – PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

Today, 27 August 2025, Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality proudly joined stakeholders at the annual SIOC-CDT Stakeholder Day in Thabo Moorosi Multipurpose Centre (Mothibistad) , a platform focused on safety, governance, and partnerships aimed at strengthening service delivery and community development. Cllr Lesangkgang Moagi delivered the welcome address on behalf of Mayor Cllr Neo Masegela, affirming the municipality’s commitment to service delivery and building strong partnerships that drive community development. The programme featured: - Safety talk by Mr. Patrick Masilo – Ga-Segonyana Fire & Disaster Department - Address by Mr. Llewellyn Delport, Chairman of the SIOC-CDT Board - Performance overview by Ms. Anita Loots, CEO of SIOC-CDT - Open Q&A session led by Ms. Charity Morwalela, Stakeholder Relations Officer - Vote of thanks by Kgosi-kgolo Tumo Hastings Jantjie

The day was enriched with vibrant performances by KMP, Kalahari Stoftrappers, and the Agisanang Marimba Ensemble, while exhibitions and service stalls showcased the diverse work of SIOC-CDT, supported by trustees and dignitaries. Stakeholder Day 2025 reaffirmed the spirit of collaboration, ensuring that through strong partnerships, sustainable development and improved livelihoods remain at the heart of community progress.

IDP STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING

At Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality Council Chamber, The IDP Steering Committee meeting chaired by Mayor Neo George Masegela is in session. The meeting attended by Councillors, Municipal Manager Mr. Martin Tsatsimpe, Management, and Officials. The primary focus of the meeting is to review reports on municipal projects and their progress. The committee received updates on various projects, including: - Human Settlement Unit: A report on the housing allocation situation in Batlharos RDP was presented, highlighting the current status and challenges. The team also reported on ongoing investigations in Maruping village by Geoscience Council to determine the alleged possibility of dolomite in the residential area. This to ensure the safety and sustainability of future developments. - Current Projects: Updates were provided on the status of Seoding Community Hall construction and Gamonare road construction projects, this includes the current project challenges and progress. - Water and Waste Management matters: to improve the providence of water services to the public and maintaining water infrastructure to avoid disturbances on water distribution. Implementation and plan of action regarding waste management in Ga-Segonyana by intensifying #KeepGaSegonyanaClean Campaign, reinforcement of Municipal By-Laws , creating awareness on waste and preserving our environment. Mayor Neo George Masegela emphasized the importance of addressing the housing backlog in the municipality. He highlighted the need to cater to beneficiaries who have registered for housing but have not yet received assistance. To engage with sector departments to speed up the process and continuously consult with the public. Furthermore encouraging councillors to work together with their communities in matters of Waste management. The IDP Steering Committee's meeting demonstrates the municipality's dedication to development, transparency, and accountability. The committee's oversight role ensures that projects are implemented effectively and efficiently.

HANDOVER OF TWO HIGH MAST LIGHTS FUNDED THROUGH SOUTH32 SLP PROJECT

Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality, in partnership with South32, officially handed over two high mast lights in Promiseland as part of a Social and Labour Plan (SLP) project aimed at improving community safety and service delivery. The project demonstrates the ongoing commitment by South32 to invest in local development initiatives that directly benefit communities. Speaking at the event, Acting Mayor Cllr Freddy Moagi expressed appreciation for the partnership and emphasised the importance of public-private collaboration in addressing infrastructure needs. “These high mast lights will not only improve visibility and safety in our communities but also strengthen our broader efforts to build resilient and sustainable neighbourhoods,” said Cllr Moagi. The programme included safety briefings, messages of support from municipal leadership, and acknowledgements of the role of stakeholders in making the project a success. This investment forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure while ensuring that residents benefit from improved quality of life and safer environments.

MPAC MEETING HELD AT GASEGOYANA COUNCIL CHAMBER

On the 25 August 2025, The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) of Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality held a meeting at the Council Chamber, co-chaired by Chairperson of MPAC Cllr Thabisho Merementsi and MPAC Researcher Mr Patrick Mokgweetsi. The meeting was attended by Councilors sitting in the committee and Municipal Manager, Mr. Martin Tsatsimpe. The primary agenda of the meeting was to scrutinize municipal assets and expenditures. This thorough examination is part of the municipality's efforts to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management. The MPAC meeting is a significant step in preparation for the upcoming special council meeting scheduled to take place this week. Empowering Youth Through Collaboration

Soul City Institute in partnership with John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality, Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality and Joe Morolong Local Municipality through Special Programmes hosted a youth-focused programme aimed at tackling critical social issues including Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), substance abuse, and discrimination against the LGBTQI community. Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality Chairperson of Finance Standing Committee , Cllr. Freddy Moagi delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to lead safe, healthy, and inclusive lives.
